How to Obtain a Driver's Abstract

The release of information from a driver abstract is regulated by the Access to Motor Vehicle Information Regulation (AMVIR). This means that we can only provide your driver abstract to you, to an individual to whom you have provided consent or to an organization which has an AMVIR agreement and has received consent from you to request the information.

Do you have an Alberta.ca account?

This option is for Alberta residents with Alberta.ca accounts only. If you have a driver's licence from another jurisdiction you will not have access to this service.

Non Alberta Resident?

You have 3 options...

1. Pay online and come in to the office

1. Come the registry
2. Fill out a Request Form
3. Pay the fee
4. An agent will print your abstract right away!

2. Designate someone to pick it up in person

If you know someone in Alberta, please:

1. 1. Fill out an Abstract Consent Form (PDF)
   2. Fax or email form to the registry
   3. Send family member or friend to registry with their valid Photo ID
   4. Pay the fee
   5. An agent will print your abstract right away!

3. Outside of Alberta

If you are NOT in Alberta, and you do NOT know someone in Alberta, please:

• Check off Drivers Abstract (only choose CDA Commericial abstract if you are Class 1, 2 or 3)
• COVID Interim Policy*: You do not need to have the form notarized, just leave that part of the form blank. The piece of Photo ID also does not need to be notarized.
